The FotoClave 2024 Photography Conference sponsored by N4C is holding its third Open Subject Juried Digital Image Competition starting November 1, 2023 through close on Midnight December 12, 2023.
BEST OF ALL…… Entrance to the competition is FREE to all registered conference attendees, and winners will receive monetary prizes! In addition, all accepted images will be posted in a gallery on the FotoClave 2024 website
at: FotoClaveGallery.SlickPic.com, shown in a slideshow at the FotoClave 2024 Photography Conference, and published in the beautiful FotoClave 2024 Competition photo book, which is available for purchase. (How nice to see some of your photos in print!)
ELIGIBILITY
This competition is open to ALL REGISTERED PHOTOGRAPHERS planning to attend the FotoClave 2024 Photography Conference. Your registration will be verified by FotoClave staff to ensure your submission is eligible, i.e. that you have registered and paid.
SUBMISSION CATEGORIES & RULES
Subject Matter is OPEN. Anything legal goes in this category. These should be individual images. No sequences or series allowed.
Standard post processing such as cropping, sharpening, color correction and exposure manipulation are acceptable. Other editing such as cloning, removal of distractions and composites are ALSO allowed in an OPEN category.
There is NO time limit within which the photographs should have been taken
The following submissions are ineligible:
- Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including but not limited to copyright and photographs of persons without the necessary consent required by law in your jurisdiction.
- Photos that contain sexually explicit, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content.
- Images that involve the willful harassment of wildlife, or damage to the environment by the photographer.
- Images that involve putting any individual or animal in danger.
- The FotoClave 2024 shall determine entry eligibility in its sole and absolute discretion.
USE AND OWNERSHIP OF IMAGES
You, the photographer, will retain all rights to any image you submit - including ownership if applicable.
If you submit an image to the competition, you grant FotoClave a royalty-free, nonexclusive right to:
- Display the photograph on N4C/FotoClave sites
- Use the photograph on the Internet and in Social Media in support of our mission.
- Use the photograph in FotoClave’s internal and external communications materials including but not limited to web sites and web publications, fact sheets, fund raising publications, advertising, multimedia, presentation and membership services.
- Use, in connection with the competition, your name, city, state and country of residence in promotions and other publications,
- Retain a digital copy of your photograph.
FotoClave will endeavor to credit all photographs with the caption "Person's Name" when the full name is available.
IMAGE SUBMISSION SPECS & LIMITS
Digital image specifications to enter online (No printed images accepted)
- Image Size should have a long dimension of at least 3000 pixels.
- Save file as (JPG) with maximum quality.
- File Name must not be the original file name. The file should be renamed with the Photo Title and nothing else.
- So the judges can evaluate images fairly, NO Watermarks, signatures, stamps, or other identifying marks are allowed anywhere on the image or in the file name.
Image limit: There is a maximum submittal limit of 5 images per maker.

JUDGING
There will be TWO rounds of judging. During the first round of judging all images will be judged and scored by expert local photography critics. Image scores will range between 1- to 15, with 15 being the highest score. Two hundred of the highest scoring images will then be passed on to our Keynote Speakers, Scott Kelby, Frans Lanting, M.H. Rubin, and Frederick Van Johnson who will score and select the 1rst, 2nd, 3rd place winners and HMs and acceptances.

- 2nd Place prize: $100
- 3rd Place prize: $50
- 1 people’s choice award: $50
- 1 people’s choice award (This award will be given to the image that receives the most “Likes” on the FotoClave 2024 Gallery)
- All photographer's accepted images will be included in the FotoClave Gallery on the website https://fotoclavegallery.slickpic.com
- All accepted images will be presented in a slideshow at the FotoClave 2024 Photography Conference.
- All accepted images will be published in a FotoClave 2024 Competition results book available for purchase.
What photos should I choose for the FotoClave competition?
If you are a camera club or PSA member, you would just choose the type of photos you would enter for the pictorial, monochrome or color divisions. For this competition, you can upload images that have won at the club or N4C level, or were accepted for a PSA salon.
For photographers who are not members of these groups, please take a look at YerbaBuenaPSA.SlickPic.com for examples of the type of photo that will be entered. However, OPEN means OPEN and you can enter anything you want.
Additionally, all accepted photos will be reproduced in an attractive soft cover book, which will be available to purchase. How nice to see some of your photos in print.

Our image submission service is being provided by the photo-sharing site SlickPic.com. To avoid spam and orphaned images, participants will have to create a free account before uploading, or you can use your existing account, if you have one. If you have an account and forgot your password, click "Forgot Password".

Please note that during the competition, the uploaded images will not be visible to anyone but the panel of judges. They will become available for public view after the competition ends.
